The People

Helping with timing and spacing of your wedding party, as well as my own movements, goes a long way. Also, training people to avoid looking at the camera.

I find people are a lot more receptive to me and my camera when they have met me, and have an understanding of how I operate.

This is a classic example of why I attend rehearsals. If you are able, I suggest you conduct your rehearsal at the same time and in the same space as your actual ceremony. Granted, you might not be looking at things as I would, but this is why couples hire me.

Not really related to the ceremony, but while attending the rehearsal for this wedding, I noticed that the caterer had placed a bunch of their equipment on this beautiful patio area. When I inquired, I learned that they intended to setup the buffet in this spot. Since this venue is extremely limited when it comes to good lighting and nice backgrounds, I showed the couple the area and explained my thoughts regarding its use.

While being sensitive to the caterer and their needs, and finding similarly suitable locations for the buffet, I explained that it would be a missed opportunity for a great photo location. Thankfully the bride agreed. And kudos to the caterer for understanding and being flexible. These family photos turned out amazing because I was there ahead of time and saw the potential for this spot.

Dinner & Speeches

Speeches can evoke a range of emotions. My goal is to try to capture those feelings in a thoughtful way.

I have some valuable experience in this area, so don't be afraid to ask me about what I know.

Due to differences in geography from one venue to the next, it's not really feasible to schedule this photo session. Instead, I can offer an approximate time, but it's really up to the sun.

If these types of photos are important to you, we can create a timeline that provides some flexibility.

After cutting the cake together - a symbolic gesture for how the couple intends to work in their marriage - feeding each other a small bite of cake can be romantic and sweet, symbolizing the commitment to provide for one another. It's also just so darn beautiful. Do you agree?
