Wedding couple stand in front of Castle

I’m not one to use gimmicks in my photography. There are times however, when I employ tricks-of-the-trade as a means of over-coming difficult situations. Before photographing this Casa Loma wedding in Toronto, I attended the rehearsal the day before. I had a chance to walk the grounds of this amazing property, and found the gardens still brimming with flowers. Vanessa was thrilled. Unfortunately, there was some confusion among the grounds-keepers, because we arrived the next day to find the gardens had all been dug up. There was dirt and plastic tarps littering the grounds in front of the Castle. I told Vanessa not to worry, and that I had a trick that mitigate the unsightly view. Point of fact, there is no lake or pond in front of the castle. The reflection you see is merely my ipad blocking the unsightly gardens.

If you look closely at the lower third, near the center, you can see Vanessa and Anthony sharing a kiss. Holding weddings at tourist attractions like Casa Loma in Toronto, can be a bit if a struggle when it comes to getting artistic portraits without including tourists in the shot. This was the silver lining as far as the cold weather was concerned; all the tourists decided to stay inside.

This wedding was such a treat. It’s always an honour when a couple invites me away from home. I’m proud of the images, and I’m sure you’re curious, so why not take a look yourself? You can check out their full wedding gallery here.
