I’m a mixed bag. I’m a free spirit, a perfectionist, an artist with a vision. I plan to fly by the seat of my pants. Weddings are like that; you can plan all you want, but sometimes Mother Nature can throw you a curve, and if you let it phase you, you can be thrown. I’ve learned that a good plan contains an alternate. The best way to roll is with the punches, so that’s what I do – for the most part. Of course, there are moments when taking control is necessary, and times when being a fly on the wall is why you hire a guy like me.
I’m a photo Journalist with a dash of creativity. Art is always the endeavor. There are contrived moments like the formal portraits, and then there are planned - yet uncontrollable situations such as the first dance. In all instances I need to be ready. Knowing my equipment is first and foremost. Knowing the players is just as important.
If I am photographing a wedding at a venue I’ve never been to before, I will scout it out before your big day. I search for great locations, often more than one or two in case one doesn’t work out. I like to drive the roads between hotels, venues and photo locations, in order to gauge timing. I like to attend the rehearsal when I can, so that I can meet with all the closest people who will be celebrating your wedding. My only goal is to provide you with amazing images of one of the most important days of your lives.
Since no two weddings are the same, I tend to taylor my rate for each couple based on their needs and desires. I'm happy to work with you and come up with a suitable rate.

Q: What makes your work different from other photographers’ work?
A: I take the time before your wedding day to plan all my shots, so on your wedding day we can relax, knowing all the timing, locations and hiccups have been worked out. All that is left is for us to have fun!
Q: Will we get the copyrights to our photos after our wedding?
A: Yes! Upon receiving your images, you will also get a full copyright release.
Q: How many photographers will be there at our wedding?
A: Usually just one - me. But don’t worry, I have an awesome second photographer for hire when multiple perspectives are a must.
Q: Will we get featured in a magazine or blog?
A: Although some of my weddings do get featured, this is not something that is guaranteed. Most publishers are looking for ‘something different.’! Who knows, maybe that’s you?
Q: Are the couples on your site models?
A: I don’t know, maybe. But I didn’t pay them. All the images shown on my website are of regular, paying clients.
Q: How do we reserve our date?
A: Send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Include your wedding date, your mailing address and both your full names. A $500 deposit and signed contract is required in order to get your wedding day on the calendar. The remainder of the balance is due on your rehearsal date.
Q: Do we have to order prints through you?
A: I highly recommend ordering prints through professional vendors, but it is not required. The difference in quality is HUGE when it comes to ordering through a local printer and a professional lab, so I encourage clients to let me help with prints!
Q: What equipment do you use?
A: I use all of the latest Canon equipment - two 5D Mark III bodies, 70 to 200mm lens, 50mm lens, 24-70mm lens, 35mm lens, 85mm lens & the 44mm tilt-shift lens, among other items. All of my pieces have a backup in the rare event that anything should occur.
Q: What happens if you get sick or can’t make it to the wedding?
A: I belong to a guild of professional wedding photographers. It was formed for this very reason. We have each others’ backs.
Q: Do you offer any advice throughout the day?
A: I can. I‘m not just a fly on the wall. If I see opportunities which will yield better photos, I will definitely speak up. Of course, you always have veto power. Check out my advice column for some ideas I share: Adice & Ideas.
Q: Can you help with our timeline?
A: Definitely. I can help plan your day to maximize photo opportunities, allowing you to enjoy your wedding day stress-free.
Q: Do you charge extra to travel to our wedding?
A: Within the Okanagan valley, I do not charge extra. I may charge a small fee to cover fuel costs outside the Okanagan. For destinations requiring flights and hotel accommadations, a portion of those fees will apply as well.
